Framing the Mindset
I read Outlive book from cover to cover. Coming across how ingenuity reframing health with retirement planning is a game changer for me.
What it means is that, many of us may have some idea on how to plan financially for their retirement, but that is not the case when it comes to our health and life.
The reality for that matter, our health mirrors almost exactly our finance. What we put in is what we shall reap.
5 reality we must understand
- As we age, our body system will become less efficient until it will eventually breakdown. Either we will reach a disease state or not.
- Sarcopenia is an unavoidable reality, without intentionally building up & saving up the muscle mass when we are younger. We will have less saving and buffer before the unavoidable cliff that leads to frailty.
- We must understand that having money, and time but not having the health as we plan to retire - in our 50s, 60s or some maybe earlier in 40s means we cannot get the most fulfilment out of our live enjoying our time and money.
- Lifespan does not automatically means you are Healthy. Just as in Dentistry - Survival does not means its Successful and Complication Free. So we should be focusing on Healthspan just as well as Lifespan.
